Interview With Tantric's Hugo Ferreira

If I come across as biased, it’s because I am. I hope you enjoy this... When I was a young kid, I didn’t have as much of an appreciation for music as I do now. Like most people, I only listened to what I thought was fun. I loved country music more than anything; mainly because that’s what my dad had stored on the computer and I used to mess around on his account a lot. I also listened to pretty much anything my older brother listened to: pop-punk, nu-metal and alt rock. I didn’t begin to develop my own music taste until I was a little bit older. When I hit the age of 12, I discovered what would become my all time favourite band; Tantric, an alternative southern rock band from the good ol’ US of A. They completely fitted into what I had been listening to for so long. They were a rock ba...

Interview with The Black Delta Movement

Original Site Posting: 19-Feb-2017 The Black Delta Movement have been making waves recently. With their upcoming European/UK tour coming up, I had the opportunity to have a chat with frontman, Matt Burr, to talk about touring experiences, his love of music and what makes The Black Delta Movement tick as a band. What does 2017 have in store for the band and fans this year? Well, we have a big European tour starting on the 10th March 2017, we’ll be coming through England, Scotland, France, Switzerland and Italy. With hopefully a few festivals. We’re also recording a new single in May. So a lot of great stuff to look forward to. Really excited to get things going. Could you tell me a bit more about the new single? We’re going to be releasing ‘King Mosquito’, which is a song we’ve been playing for a while now on tour. It’s a song that didn’t make it onto the last EP as we felt it was more of a stand alone single. We’re doing that and we’re trying to write some other songs t...

Album Review: Erja Lyytinen - Stolen Hearts

Original Site Posting: 11-Feb-2017 I first discovered Erja Lytinnen a few years back now. The first album of hers I remember listening to in full was Dreamland Blues. A great album with some killer tracks. Since then, I’ve back tracked down her older material and kept up with the latest as and when it came out. I’ve always found to be a really interesting songwriter. She always manages to find that space between the smooth, elegant sounds and the hard rock style. Her skill on the guitar is always amazing and she get’s better with every sequential album. So, what is her new album Stolen Hearts like? Well, it’s pretty damn good. The new album was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki with Erja’s vocals at State of the Ark Studios. The album was produced by Chris Kimsey, known for his contributions to classic Rolling Stones albums Sticky Fingers and Some Girls. Knowing my love for her music, I was really excited to get into this one. She wastes no time in getting your atten...

Interview With Christopher Shayne

Original Site Posting: 11-Jan-2017 I have to say I’ve grown to be quite a fan of Christopher Shayne. Last year, he dropped his debut album ‘Turning Stones’, to a fairly decent reception. I found it really enjoyable and even ended up putting it on my Best of 2016 list. So to start off 2017, I sat down with the man himself to chat about his music, playing live and the love of rock ‘n’ roll. You had a pretty successful year, in 2016, with the debut album, Turning Stones. What’s 2017 got in store? Yeh, It was a lot of fun. Well, we’re working on the new record. Everything is pretty much written and now we’re going through all of the preliminary stuff of making sure the songs are right, finding all of the right people to make it all happen and of course trying to travel and tour and do all of that. So we’re just going keep on doing that. We’ve got NAMM, SXSW and a show with Shooter Jennings all coming up. Yeah, whatever really pops up, we’ll get to. That’s excellent, I love Shooter...
